Our approach

The Max Foundation supports Micro-Sanitation projects. In addition to installing water wells these projects also install latrines (these are usually bought by the local community) and the provision of education about hygiene. The Max Foundation is convinced that only an integrated approach to the problem can lead to a durable solution.

In order to involve the local community in the project 200 signatures and €100 need to be collected before a well can be dug. It is also obligatory to attend an educational meeting and a maintenance committee is established that is responsible for the functioning of the water well.

Considering the preparation it takes (as described above) to realize a well, it takes approximately 6 months before we can send you a photograph of your water well.

The projects that the Max Foundation carries out contribute to three of the eight Millennium Development Goals set by the Unity Nations:

Goal 3 - Reducing (75% of) maternal death during/after childbirth

Goal 4 - Reducing child mortality by one third for children under the age of 5

Goal 7 - Halving the number of people who do not have access to clean drinking water

The United Nations aim to achieve these goals by 2015
